GREAT HERO
The protagonist who must take action. In the LEGENDS framework, the Great Hero is the target audience, the leader or organization called to rise. Proper casting positions the hero with agency and strength. Miscasting the Great Hero as the speaker rather than the target is a fatal flaw that leaves the true heroes in the role of victims.
ESSENTIAL GUIDE
The mentor or advisor who provides wisdom and guidance. The Essential Guide equips the Great Hero with frameworks, insights, and tools needed for the journey. Kairos serves as an Essential Guide for leaders seeking strategic clarity, never positioning itself as the hero.
NEW PATH
The strategic direction forward. Once the landscape is understood, the enemy identified, and the hero positioned, the New Path emerges as the way through, a clear sequence of actions leading toward transformation.
DANGERS
Risks and threats along the journey. Strategic planning requires honest assessment of what could go wrong: the pitfalls, the unintended consequences, and the forces that may resist change. This is where the "bad news" belongs, reserved for this phase rather than undermining the hero's positioning.
SUCCESS
The desired outcome and victory. Success is defined with precision: what does winning look like? The LEGENDS framework ensures every strategic engagement concludes with a clear vision of the legendary outcome. Legacy is the outcome of legendary leadership.
THE PERSUASION FRAMEWORK
The LEGENDS Formula is fundamentally a persuasion framework. Legends emerge from the profound transformation of the heroes chosen for guidance. Through proper casting and motivation throughout the narrative, leaders construct stories that move audiences to action.
A legend may be the story itself, the character that behaves in a legendary manner (whether Great Hero or Essential Guide), or a way to describe the rules of engagement and meaning, like the legend present on maps. The persuasive power of a message depends less on its content and more on the integrity of its structure.
Every organization must have both an external legend (the story told to customers and stakeholders) and an internal legend (the story that guides and motivates the team). The LEGENDS framework provides structure for both.
